Ausable Cottage sits on 3 acres of land on the East Ausable River in Keene, New York, in the Adirondack State Park. The town of Keene boasts a population of some 700 and has a town library, post office, community center with ice rink, health clinic, volunteer fire department, as well as a gas station and convenience store. The town hall of Keene Township is in the village of Keene as is North Country Taxidermy and Adirondack Reflections gift shop, Cedar Run Bakery, Phat Shannon’s (a video/pizza store), and the Tip-A-Canoe Restaurant. Ausable Cottage is within a five-minute walk of all these amenities. It is, however, set sufficiently apart from town to provide a sense of quiet and peace.

There are three bedrooms, containing queen, double, and twin size beds, and there is one bathroom with a shower. In addition, there is a roll-up futon and, in the queen bedroom, a futon-type fold-out sofa; the latter will accommodate either two children or one adult. There is a living room, dining room, open kitchen, a covered front porch and a side deck. There is a telephone and a 32-inch television with DVD/VCR. A basement houses the washer and dryer. There is a hammock for enjoying the river, a Weber charcoal grill, and a picnic table.

The cottage is a 15 minute drive from Whiteface Ski area, a 20 minute drive from Lake Placid, 5 minutes from Keene Valley, and about 20 minutes from the Whiteface Mountain road. There are a number of good restaurants within a 15 mile radius. Keene is in the High Peaks region of the Adirondack State Park, so there are numerous hiking trailheads within easy striking distance. There is swimming in the river, ice skating at the community center, and fishing in the famed Ausable River.

Ausable Cottage is attractively furnished and appointed, and we supply linens, basic cooking staples, paper products, and soap (hand and dish). Free video rental from Phat Shannon’s is provided (2 movies per week), as is complimentary coffee from Cedar Run Bakery (up to 4 cups per week).
